Oakville North-Burlington Newsletter April 19, 2024

“Our government’s commitment to education is unwavering. With Premier Ford and Education Minister Lecce at the helm, our government is dedicated to providing cutting-edge learning environments for our students. Today, I am pleased to announce a key investment of $16 million from the Ministry of Education for the expansion of Oakville NE #5 Public School. This investment will add 138 additional student spaces, supporting the growing needs of our community’s families. It’s part of a groundbreaking $1.3 billion pledge, the largest in our province’s history. This initiative will see the construction of 60 new schools and expansions, creating over 27,000 student spaces and 1,700 childcare spaces across Ontario.

Since 2018, our community has seen a total investment of $142 million from the Ministry of Education, resulting in the construction of 5 new schools and the addition of 4,403 student spaces and 352 childcare spaces. I am proud of the transformative work our government is accomplishing, preparing our students for prosperous futures.” – MPP Triantafilopoulos

Investing in our Communities

I was proud to join Premier Ford, Minister Lumsden MPP Stephen Crawford, Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr and Oakville Councillors Marc Grant and Sean O’Meara to announce the significant investment of $200 million in this year’s provincial budget. The funding will establish a new Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund, dedicated to building and upgrading hockey rinks, arenas, and other essential facilities supporting families and our growing communities in Oakville North-Burlington and across Ontario.

Building Ontario’s Infrastructure
I joined Premier @fordnation and MPP colleague @stcrawford2 at @CCP_Precast in #Oakville. We were able to see first-hand the modern manufacturing techniques and quality control that ensures cutting edge Ontario-made products that will help build our province. Thank you for being an industry leader and delivering superior concrete pipe products which will help build Ontario’s infrastructure.

Recognizing our Healthcare Heroes

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to join Premier Ford and MPP Crawford and the dedicated team at CareRx Corp in Oakville. They offer specialized pharmacy services and provide vital support to healthcare teams in Ontario, ensuring the well-being of seniors in the community and long-term care. Their commitment and compassion are admirable.

Working with Municipal Partners

It was a pleasure connecting with Ontario Big City Mayors (OBCM) alongside Premier Ford last night. We discussed strategies to collaborate with the federal government in securing funding for housing, streamlining processes and taking a Team Ontario approach to bolster home construction and working in partnership with the 444 municipalities across the province. Thank you to Mayor Meed Ward for her leadership as Chair of the Ontario Big City Mayors.

Your Voice Matters

Last weekend I met with constituents at their doors, hearing directly about their concerns – community safety and auto thefts, cost of living and the punishing federal carbon tax topped the list. In these challenging economic times, Premier Ford and our government are laser-focused on keeping costs down for working families and seniors.

Ontario Continues to Invest in EVs

This week I was pleased to speak in the Legislature about our government’s plan to cut costs and create the right economic conditions for Ontario’s auto sector to succeed and thrive in a globally competitive environment. The results speak for themselves:

  • $28 Billion in new auto and EV investments in the last three years
  • Canada stands as No. 1 in Bloomberg’s global battery supply chain rankings
  • Ontario is the No. 2 auto producer in North America building over 1.2 million vehicles every year

We are revitalizing the auto sector and building an end-to-end electric vehicle supply chain. Ontario is open for business.

National Volunteers Week

On the occasion of National Volunteer Week, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for the invaluable contributions made by volunteers in our community and across Ontario. This week I welcomed six students from our community to Queens Park. Arthur, Armaan, Emma, Logan, Molly and Sagar enjoyed a wonderful tour and a special visit with Premier Ford. Thank you for your incredible volunteerism.

Ontario Welcomes $80 Million Nuclear Manufacturing Investment

The Ontario government is welcoming a $80 million investment by BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) to expand their Cambridge nuclear manufacturing plant. Their investment will create more than 250 new skilled, unionized jobs in Cambridge and support Ontario’s expansion of reliable, affordable and clean nuclear energy to power our growing economy.

The province’s build-out of nuclear generation – supported by BWXT’s expanded facility – will provide families and industries with the reliable, low-cost, and clean energy needed to power the future, with growing electricity demands as a result of increasing electrification and strong economic growth in the province.
