“Strong communities depend on reliable energy, resilient supply chains, and the infrastructure that helps businesses grow and workers succeed. That is why our government is investing in projects that protect Ontario jobs, strengthen our economy, and create opportunities for future generations.
During a recent visit to Calgary, Premier Doug Ford met with Premier Danielle Smith to discuss opportunities to strengthen energy infrastructure and unlock new economic potential across Canada. He spoke about Ontario’s support for the proposed Northern Shield Energy Corridor, a 3,300-kilometre pipeline connecting Hardisty, Alberta, to Sarnia, Ontario. The project would create a direct Canadian route for energy, helping Canada strengthen its energy security, economic resilience, and long-term competitiveness. The proposed corridor could initially transport up to 500,000 barrels of oil per day.
For communities like Oakville North-Burlington, strong infrastructure supports investment, manufacturing, and economic growth. Today, Ontario relies in part on energy infrastructure that crosses through the United States before returning to Canada. This underscores the importance of building stronger connections within our own country. The proposed corridor would help move Canadian energy across Canada, creating a more direct connection between Alberta and Ontario while strengthening supply chains and supporting Canadian jobs.
Under the leadership of Premier Doug Ford, our government is doing its part to Protect Ontario by supporting nation-building projects that connect provinces, expand market access, reduce barriers to growth, and create new opportunities for workers, businesses, and communities.”— MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos
Investing in St. Luke’s to Support a Stronger Community
I was pleased to visit St. Luke Palermo and welcome Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming Zee Hamid, who announced an important investment in our Oakville North-Burlington community.
St. Luke’s is receiving $61,800 through the OTF Capital grant stream to address important flooring and roofing safety needs, helping ensure its community spaces remain safe and accessible while allowing its food programs and support for vulnerable members of our community to continue.
Our government is investing nearly $30 million through the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to support 305 non-profit organizations, First Nations communities and small municipalities across Ontario. Through the OTF’s new Sector grant stream, our government is further strengthening Ontario’s non-profit sector by supporting projects that help organizations build capacity, share tools and strategies, operate more effectively, and adapt to changing community needs.
These investments are about more than buildings and programs. They create opportunities for people to connect, participate, learn and contribute to their communities. Thank you to St. Luke’s, the community organizations across Ontario, and the Ontario Trillium Foundation for the important work you do every day to make our communities stronger and more resilient.
