Oakville-based Music Company Receives Provincial Funding to Support Ontario’s Creative Economy
OAKVILLE NORTH-BURLINGTON – Our government is investing $20,000 to support the growth of MCMXVI Inc., a Oakville-based record label, through the Ontario Music Investment Fund’s Music Creation stream, delivered by Ontario Creates, an agency of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming.
“Ontario’s music industry is an important contributor to economic growth, job creation, and vibrant local communities,” said Effie Triantafilopoulos, MPP for Oakville North–Burlington. “Through this $20,000 investment to MCMXVI Inc, our government is providing them valuable support to add three Ontario artists to their roster thereby strengthening our music production industry, and helping emerging Ontario talent succeed.”
The Ontario Music Investment Fund provides targeted economic development support to Ontario-based music companies with strong growth potential. Funding through the Music Creation stream helps organizations expand artist rosters, invest in recording and production, create jobs, strengthen business capacity, support export development, and enhance diversity within Ontario’s music industry.
This investment will enable MCMXVI Inc. to further build its record label infrastructure while directly supporting the creation and release of new music from three Ontario artists: John Fellner, Notifi, and KTOE.
“It’s truly an honour to receive support through the Ontario Creates OMIF Music Creation program,” said Carlos Pineda, Founder of MCMXVI Inc. “It’s equally meaningful to see the provincial government taking the time to continue supporting the arts and music industry here in Ontario. This investment allows us to continue developing and amplifying Ontario talent at a critical stage in their careers. Programs like this play a vital role in strengthening our local music ecosystem, creating sustainable opportunities for artists and ensuring Ontario’s voices continue to be heard on both national and international stages.”
Last year, MCMXVI Inc. received a $7,000 Ontario Creates grant in 2025 through the OMIF – Global Market Development for Music Managers program, reflecting the organization’s continued contribution to the province’s creative economy.
