OAKVILLE NORTH-BURLINGTON – Residents of Oakville and Burlington are being invited by Oakville North-Burlington MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos to have their say as Ontario develops its new tourism strategy. Tourism supports jobs across the province and generates billions of dollars in economic activity.

“Tourism is vital to Ontario’s economy and to our success,” said MPP Triantafilopoulos. “It is a $34 billion industry that supports hundreds of thousands of jobs and generates billions in economic activity in communities across Ontario. It’s important that Ontario’s tourism strategy hears the views of residents and businesses in our community so that the strategy will reflect our local needs.”

On October 23, 2018, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport announced the development of a new Ontario Tourism Strategy, our government’s long-term vision for Ontario tourism. Our goal is to align our efforts with other government initiatives and meet the needs of our tourism operators and the tourists they serve.

Residents can participate in the online consultations at www.ontario.ca/page/consultation-ontario-tourism-strategy until February 28, 2019.

Tourism Minister Michael Tibollo is committed to working on solution-focused and consumer-focused strategies, which will strive to make the sector more sustainable, attract visitors and visitor spending, and keep them coming back again and again.
