Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Oakville North-Burlington

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone in our beautiful community of Oakville North-Burlington and across Ontario. This year has been a year like no other – one that’s challenged us in ways we’ve never been challenged before, both as individuals and as a community.
We are in this together – and we should celebrate this time with family knowing that better times will return. Thank you to all of our religious institutions, charities, food banks, shelters, volunteers and other social agencies who have helped support our communities and our most vulnerable citizens. A special note of gratitude to our brave frontline healthcare heroes and essential workers, who work each and every day to keep us safe and healthy.
We are looking forward to the new year with renewed hope ā€“ and with the knowledge that vaccines are on the way and will continue to be administered to health care workers in high-risk settings first, such as long-term care homes and hospitals, followed by the other priority populations we have identified.
As more doses arrive, the Ontario government will oversee expansion of vaccinations to long-term care homes in lockdown areas, followed by retirement homes, public health units, other congregate care settings for seniors, and remote Indigenous communities.

During the ongoing pandemic many charities have stepped up and provided significantly increased service levels at a time when their fundraising abilities have been seriously constrained. Their need to deliver services at elevated levels will continue until well after we have overcome COVID-19. As we approach the end of 2020, Iā€™m reaching out to ask those of you that find yourselves to be in a fortunate position to generously support your favourite charities, especially those that make a difference in our local community.

Both the Oakville Community Foundation and the Burlington Foundation are committed to supporting local granting for charities in our community. Among the charities listed many that have requested funding are excellent organizations who work tirelessly to make a difference and offer support to our most vulnerable. You can also make a difference by donating at; Donate to a Fund ā€“ Oakville Community Foundation, and at Funds at the Burlington Foundation ā€“ Burlington Community Foundation.
