“Our government is delivering results by strengthening Ontario’s economy, protecting jobs and helping families and businesses keep more of their hard-earned money. Since 2018, provincial revenue has grown by $77 billion without raising taxes. Now, Ontario is cutting the small-business tax rate from 3.2% to 2.2%, which is a 31.25% reduction that will provide $1.1 billion in relief to more than 375,000 businesses and save eligible businesses up to $5,000 a year.
We are also protecting jobs and creating new opportunities for Ontario businesses. Through the Ontario Together Trade Fund, 89 companies have invested nearly $1 billion, helping protect and create more than 10,000 jobs. In July alone, Ontario added 52,000 jobs, nearly 70% of Canada’s job gains, and 119,000 over four months. By signing agreements with 10 provinces and territories, Ontario is helping unlock up to $200 billion in economic potential and giving businesses greater access to Canada’s $324-billion internal trade market.

Protecting Jobs and Ontario’s Automotive Future
Protecting Ontario means protecting good jobs, strengthening our economy, and keeping Ontario a global automotive leader. I was pleased to attend the Ontario Auto Mayors Caucus roundtable chaired by Oakville Mayor Rob Burton with municipal and industry leaders from across Ontario, to discuss the future of Canada’s automotive sector. With the threat of U.S. tariffs, evolving environmental standards, and growing global competition, we need clear policies that protect Ontario jobs, support domestic production, and encourage investment and innovation. Thank you to Mayor Rob Burton for bringing municipalities together to work collaboratively with provincial and federal governments to strengthen Canada’s economy and ensure we remain competitive in a rapidly changing global market.
Celebrating Sweet Flavours at the Butter tart Festival
What a delicious way to spend the day. It was a great time exploring the booths, meeting vendors, and taking in all the delectable creations at the Buttertart Festival at the Art Gallery of Burlington. It was also fun bumping into friends and indulging our sweet tooth.
Bandology Inspires the Next Generation of Musicians
I was so pleased to visit Bandology’s Band Camp in north Oakville and see firsthand the incredible talent and enthusiasm of young musicians in our community!
This summer marks the 10th summer of Band Camp, which gives students the opportunity to develop their musical skills, build confidence, and connect with fellow young musicians. It was wonderful to tour the camp, see the students participating in workshops, and speak with campers about their experiences.
Bandology reminds us that education plays such an important role in sustaining culture and helping young people grow and learn. Thank you to Lisa and the entire Bandology team for your continued commitment to bringing more music and joy to kids in our community!

Ontario Ends Social Assistance for People Living in Canada Illegally
The Ontario government is strengthening the rules for Ontario’s social assistance programs to ensure that only people who are living in Canada legally can receive financial assistance from Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program. The new regulations, which take effect immediately, will protect taxpayer dollars and ensure Ontario’s social assistance programs are focused on supporting only families and individuals facing financial hardship who are legally authorized to live in Canada.

Ontario Completes Tunnelling for Eglinton Crosstown West Extension
The Ontario government is marking another major milestone in its plan to protect Ontario with the completion of tunnelling for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension, which will extend Line 5 Eglinton by 9.2 kilometres and create a continuous rapid transit line from Scarborough to Mississauga. With construction underway along the line, supporting 4,600 good-paying jobs annually, the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will reduce gridlock and connect nearly 70,000 commuters to jobs across the Greater Toronto Area.

Ontario Expands Welding Training Centre in Milton
The Ontario government is celebrating the opening of a new state-of-the-art welding training centre in Milton. Supported by an investment of $1,461,814 through the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Capital Stream, CWB Group’s upgraded training centre will help train up to 5,740 additional students and those pursuing welding careers over the next five years, strengthening the skilled trades workforce in a growing region of the province.

Ontario Investing $35 Million to Support Long-Term Care Residents with Complex Needs
Ontario government is investing $35 million to help long-term care homes across the province support residents with complex needs. The Local Priorities Fund (LPF) supports initiatives that connect people with the right care for them, reducing unnecessary emergency department visits and hospital stays. This investment is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by ensuring long-term care residents get the quality of care and quality of life they need and deserve.

Helping Burlington Children Get Ready for School
The Salvation Army Burlington is organizing a Back-to-School and Tutoring Program to help local children and youth start the school year prepared to learn. New school supply donations are being accepted, with supplies distributed to families in need throughout Burlington starting in mid-August. Donations can be dropped off at The Salvation Army, 5040 Mainway, Unit 9, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Every donation will help make a meaningful difference in the lives of local children and families.
3rd Annual Mela Offers Food, Fun and Community Spirit
The 3rd Annual Mela will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. onward at the ZRCC grounds, 1187 Burnhamthorpe Road East in Oakville.
The free family event will feature food stalls, kids’ activities, a bouncy castle, bingo and more. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy an afternoon of family fun and community celebration.
Admission is free. No registration is indicated; attendees can simply come to the event.

The Burlington Volunteer Fair will bring together 35 organizations on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Anglican Church, 662 Guelph Line, Burlington. GalaxyStar Events will present the Pre-Festival Vendors Exhibition on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Volodymyr Event Centre, 1280 Dundas Street West, Oakville.
