“Under the leadership of Premier Doug Ford, the Ontario government is making great strides to connect more people to a family doctor or primary care provider. At the 2026 AMO Conference this week, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones announced a new $250 million investment, with a call for proposals launching in September 2026. This will result in creating or expanding approximately 78 primary care teams and connecting 600,000 more people to health care. This is part of Ontario’s $3.4 billion Primary Care Action Plan, whose mission is to connect everyone in Ontario to primary care by 2029. Since the Primary Care Action Team was launched on January 27, 2025, Ontario has connected more than 437,000 people to care. Nearly 90 per cent are now connected, with 199 successful teams helping 800,000 people, with the objective of adding 300 teams and reaching 2 million more Ontarians. This latest investment represents another important step toward the goal of ensuring that every Ontarian has access to a family doctor or primary care provider and can receive the care they need closer to home.”—MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos
SEKISUI Canada Invests $15 Million in Burlington Manufacturing
It was an honour to attend the ribbon cutting for SEKISUI Canada Modular Solutions with Economic Development Minister Victor Fedeli and MPP Natalie Pierre in Burlington, celebrating an exciting investment in the community and Ontario’s manufacturing sector. With a $15 million investment to establish its Canadian manufacturing operations hub in Burlington, SEKISUI is bringing advanced modular construction technology to Ontario while supporting the delivery of high quality housing and community infrastructure and creating skilled jobs in the advanced manufacturing sector. Congratulations to the SEKISUI team on this exciting launch. At a time of global economic uncertainty, Ontario is proud to attract and welcome companies like SEKISUI to the province. Association of Municipalities of Ontario 2026
At AMO 2026, I had valuable meetings with municipal leaders from Norfolk County, the City of Thorold, the Township of West Lincoln, the Town of Renfrew and the Town of Essex. Our discussions focused on important local priorities, including tourism, agri-tourism and trails, cultural development, hotel investment, and infrastructure that supports stronger communities, creates jobs and drives economic growth. As Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from municipal leaders about the opportunities and challenges facing their communities. These conversations are important as we continue working together to support community-building projects, strengthen Ontario’s visitor economy, expand cultural opportunities and help communities across the province thrive.
Working with Municipalities on Community Safety
A productive meeting with Ontario’s Big City Mayors with Solicitor General Michael Kerzner provided an opportunity to discuss key priorities facing communities across the province. The discussion with municipal leaders, focused on the importance of working together to address community safety, mental health and addictions, and the pressures facing municipalities.
Exploring the New Aquatics Centre at Sixteen Mile
It was wonderful to visit the state of the art Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, where I had the opportunity to tour the new Aquatics Centre and meet with staff and campers enjoying the facility. The Aquatics Centre features a 25 metre, six lane pool and a leisure pool, creating more opportunities for swimming lessons, fitness programs, and recreational activities for residents of all ages. Thank you to Gidon and Roozbeh for showing us these new amenities. It was great to see these spaces open and being enjoyed by the Oakville community.
Celebrating New Health Care Opportunities in Burlington
It was a pleasure to welcome Burlington Compounding Pharmacy to the North Burlington community and celebrate its grand opening alongside the Palladium Urgent Care and Family Practice medical team and Marianne Meed Ward. As Ontario continues to expand the role of pharmacists and make more health care services available closer to home, community pharmacies are playing an increasingly important role in providing convenient and accessible care, making this new pharmacy a valuable addition to the Burlington community. Congratulations to the Palladium Urgent Care and Family Practice team on this exciting milestone. I wish the team continued success in serving Burlington residents.
Investing in Ontario’s Creative Future
I was honoured to attend the opening of the Shaw Artists’ Village in Niagara-on-the-Lake, marking an important milestone for the Shaw Festival and Ontario’s arts and culture sector. This new 40,000-square-foot campus brings together artist residences, creative production, arts education and year-round programming. The Village includes 26 apartments for seasonal artists, expanded space for the Wardrobe Workshop, visitor residences and the Burton Centre for Lifelong Creativity, supporting youth, seniors, educators, community groups and lifelong learners. I want to recognize Executive Director and CEO Tim Jennings, Artistic Director Tim Carroll, Jim Burton, the Shaw Festival team and all partners and supporters who helped make this vision a reality. Projects like this strengthen Ontario’s cultural sector, support artists and create more opportunities for people to experience creativity, culture and community.
Strengthening Stroke Awareness
A productive meeting was held with Avril and Lesley from Heart and Stroke to discuss access to life saving automated external defibrillators, stroke awareness, and public health priorities across Ontario. AEDs save lives, and faster access in public spaces can make a critical difference during cardiac emergencies. The discussion provided valuable insight into Heart and Stroke’s recommendations regarding AED registration, public access, stroke awareness, and prevention. Appreciation was extended to Avril, Lesley, and the entire Heart and Stroke team for their leadership, advocacy, and continued efforts to help Ontarians live healthier lives.
Supporting Canadians Living with Multiple Sclerosis
I was pleased to visit A&W at its Appleby Line location in Burlington in support of Canadians living with multiple sclerosis and the Burgers to Beat MS campaign. As part of the campaign, A&W donated $2 from every Teen Burger sold to MS Canada, helping support awareness, advocacy, and services for the MS community. The campaign provided an opportunity for Burlington residents and communities across Canada to come together in support of those living with multiple sclerosis and help raise awareness of this important cause.
Ontario Investing in Infrastructure to Protect and Build Communities
Ontario’s $236 billion investment in infrastructure is providing unprecedented support to municipalities across the province, so we can grow the economy, unlock our resources, protect our workers and build the strongest and most competitive economy in the G7,” said Premier Ford. “Our investments in community and housing-enabling infrastructure, combined with our full cut to the HST on new homes, are building stronger communities and saving families up to $200,000 off the cost of a home.

2026 Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund
The Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF) is the Province’s main general assistance grant to municipalities, providing a total of $600 million in unconditional funding to 388 municipalities through the 2026 OMPF program.

Ontario Investing Nearly $75 Million to Build a Strong Long-Term Care Workforce
The Ontario government is investing nearly $75 million in programs that will train thousands of students and workers over the next three years for rewarding careers in long-term care. These investments are part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by helping more people train, upskill and gain the skills needed to land good-paying jobs as health-care professionals in long-term care and ensure residents get the quality of care and quality of life they need and deserve.

Ontario Strengthening Bail Requirements to Protect Communities
Effective August 17, 2026, the Ontario government is bringing into force new measures to strengthen the province’s bail system and protect Ontario communities. As part of the government’s comprehensive bail strategy and ongoing work to make bail more real and consequential for people accused of serious crimes, these new measures will improve bail compliance, keep violent, repeat offenders behind bars and make it easier for the province to collect forfeited bail payments when bail conditions are violated.
