Ontario Invests $154.8 Million to Expand Health Care in Oakville
I was proud to join Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones and Halton Healthcare President and CEO Melissa Farrell to announce new investments that will strengthen care close to home. Our government is investing up to $154.8 million to expand Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital by approximately 79,000 square feet, adding 111 new hospital beds and transforming existing shelled space into much-needed patient care capacity.
This builds on the $12.1 million increase in funding for Halton Healthcare, helping support growing demand, improve access to care, and ensure patients and families can continue to receive high-quality health care in our community.
These investments are about forward planning, building capacity, and protecting access to the services families rely on every day.

Ontario Invests $29.1 Million to Strengthen Emergency Care in Halton
I was pleased to join Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones and Halton Chief of Paramedic Services Greg Sage for an important announcement supporting ambulance services and emergency care in our region.
Our government is investing more than $29.1 million in Halton’s ambulance services, including $27.7 million in land ambulance funding, an 11 per cent increase over last year, and nearly $1.5 million for dedicated offload nurses program. This funding will help support paramedics, keep ambulances on the road, and reduce the time paramedics spend waiting to transfer patients into hospital care, so they can get back into the community and respond to the next emergency sooner.
Through investments in offload nursing and collaboration between paramedic services and hospitals, provincial ambulance offload times have decreased by approximately 70% since October 2022.
For families, seniors, and residents across Oakville, Burlington and Halton region, this means greater confidence that emergency care will be there when it is needed most.
Thank you to Halton’s paramedics, dedicated offload nurses, emergency health-care workers, and all those on the front lines who work every day to keep our communities safe.
Oakville Breaks Ground on Two New Long-Term Care Homes
It was a pleasure to join the groundbreaking ceremony for two new Schlegel Villages long-term care homes in Oakville, which will bring 640 modern long-term care spaces to our community.
Known as The Village of Heritage Trails, the development will include 554 new and 86 upgraded spaces, creating two 320-bed homes designed to support quality of care, quality of life, and a strong sense of community for residents and families.
The project is also expected to support approximately 700 construction jobs and 1,000 long-term care-related jobs once completed.
Thank you to Minister of Long-Term Care Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Schlegel Villages President and CEO James Schlegel, the Town of Oakville, Sheridan College, and all partners who helped make this important milestone possible.
This is an important step forward for seniors and families in Oakville, helping ensure residents can receive the care they need close to home.
Honouring 35th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence in Oakville
It was an honour to attend and provide remarks at the Ukrainian Independence Day Flag Raising in Oakville, marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.
This meaningful ceremony brought our community together to celebrate Ukraine’s strength, resilience, culture, and enduring fight for freedom.

Celebrating Music For Every Child
It was a pleasure to attend Music For Every Child’s Community Concert, a beautiful evening celebrating music, community, and inclusion.
Music For Every Child is doing meaningful work to make music education more accessible, supporting students across Ontario, including in our community of Oakville North-Burlington, and creating opportunities for young people to experience the joy and confidence that music can bring.
It was wonderful to attend with Minister of Children, Community and Social Services Michael Parsa and enjoy performances from talented local artists.

Celebrating the 2026 Canadian National Exhibition
It was a pleasure to attend the opening ceremonies of the 2026 Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) with my colleague Paul Vickers, MPP, on behalf of the Ontario government. It was also an honour of a lifetime to share the stage with Canada’s Jeremy Hansen, who served on the Artemis II mission, and to hear his inspiring words.
The Canadian National Exhibition is one of Ontario’s most iconic summer traditions, bringing together families, small businesses, food vendors, entertainers, agricultural exhibitors, and visitors from across the province.
Through the Experience Ontario program, our government has invested $125,000 to support this annual fair, generating significant economic impact for Toronto and Ontario.
Help Name Oakville North–Burlington’s Newest High School
A new public high school is coming to Oakville North-Burlington and is scheduled to open in September 2027 at 4020 Sixth Line. The Halton District School Board is inviting students, families, and community residents to help choose a meaningful name for the new school. Name suggestions can be submitted until September 13. This is an opportunity for members of the Oakville North–Burlington community to recognize something meaningful about our local history, community, people or places and help give this new school an identity that will last for generations. William Halton Parkway Bridge Now Open in North Oakville
The new bridge over Sixteen Mile Creek is now open to traffic, completing the William Halton Parkway connection and creating a new east-west transportation route in North Oakville. The opening provides improved connectivity for residents and supports the continued growth of the North Oakville community.
Ontario Invests in Emerging Music Talent
Investing in Ontario talent!. MCMXVI Inc. is receiving funding through the Ontario Music Investment Fund in the Ontario Creates program to support artist development and opportunities for emerging musicians.
Congratulations to Carlos and MCMXVI on this latest investment. This support will help its artists grow their careers and reach new audiences in Ontario and beyond.
Independent music companies play an important role in Ontario’s creative economy, and as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, I’m so proud to see this investment supporting local talent.

Ontario Takes Action as U.S. Tariffs Threaten Canadian Economy
Ontario Pushes to Eliminate Internal Trade Barriers. With the U.S. imposing new unjustified tariffs on Canada, it has never been more important for us to continue eliminating internal trade barriers and building a more self-reliant and resilient economy.
At the recent Committee on Internal Trade Meeting in Iqaluit, we worked with our counterparts from across the country to make progress on:
Labour Mobility: We ratified amendments to the Canadian Free Trade Agreement to reduce red tape for Canadian workers so that they can move across the country and work where their skills are needed.
Mutual Recognition: Following consultations with stakeholders in July, we’re moving ahead to expand the Canadian Mutual Recognition Agreement to include services by December.
Housing and Construction: Work is well underway to advance construction code harmonization so that we can get shovels in the ground faster for new homes.
These are concrete steps toward a more united, competitive Canada. Ontario will keep pushing to tear down barriers and get results for businesses, workers and families across the country.
Ontario Investing More Than $1.5 Million to Help More Children Access Sport and Recreation
The Ontario government is investing $1.59 million in Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (Jumpstart) to help more than 37,000 children and youth across Ontario participate in sport and recreation programs. Through the Inclusive Grassroots Recreation (IGR) program, this investment is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by creating healthier communities, expanding opportunities for young people and ensuring more families can access the benefits of sport and recreation.

The 100 Seeds of Joy Initiative is hosting a Back to School Workshop focused on finding balance, releasing anxiety, and supporting well-being through a self-realization exercise and guided meditation.
