Joseph Brant Hospital Broke Ground on Major Mental Health Redevelopment
I was honoured to join Deputy Premier & Minister of Health Sylvia Jones, Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Vijay Thanigasalam and MPP Natalie Pierre at Joseph Brant Hospital to break ground on the new Mental Health and Addictions Redevelopment Project. Ontario is investing $4.6 million to expand and modernize mental health services for patients and families in Burlington. The redevelopment includes a new Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, expanded inpatient and outpatient services, and a Child & Youth Mental Health Day Hospital all designed with patient safety, privacy, and care in mind.
These investments reflect our commitment to strengthening mental health care across the province. Special thanks to Michael and Laura Paletta for their generous $5 Million donation.

Oakville Crime Roundtable Kicked Off with Focus on Property Crime Reduction
It was a privilege to participate in the first meeting of the cross-government Oakville Crime Roundtable, bringing together federal and provincial representatives with Halton Police Board Services board to address crime in our community.
We discussed residents’ concerns around property crime, including auto theft and home invasions. While Halton saw a 20.9% drop in auto thefts in 2024, more action is needed to maintain public safety in Canada’s safest regional municipality.
We reaffirmed that all levels of government must work together — to prevent crime, support law enforcement, and ensure accountability.
Halton Police’s plan to reduce property crime and cut auto thefts by 50% by 2027. We expressed support for this strategy and emphasized the need for stronger Criminal Code provisions and stricter bail laws.
We thank all partners and look forward to continuing this important collaboration.
