“Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor, Honourable Edith Dumont, delivered the Speech from the Throne, a time-honoured tradition that marks the commencement of our parliamentary session.

In this speech, she outlined our government’s vision and priorities for the coming year, such as investments to support and attract business, build and upgrade critical infrastructure from highways to hospitals, produce energy, and extract and process critical minerals.

She also mentioned our plans to improve access to healthcare and medicines, foster innovation, and free up our interprovincial trade.

As the LG said, “Together, let’s be bold. Let’s be ambitious. Let’s be fearless. Together, let’s protect Ontario”.” –

Nurturing Nature: Earth Day Tree Planting in Oakville North–Burlington

Team Effie was proud to take part in the annual Earth Day clean up and a Tree Planting event at Preserve Woods Park, organized by Oakville Green. It was a great chance for the community to come together to support biodiversity and protect our green spaces in Oakville North–Burlington.

We were especially excited to see so many young volunteers, including members of Effie’s Youth Council, roll up their sleeves and make a difference! We planted 150 native trees with the help of our amazing community and partners, including Oakville Community Foundation.

Ontario Taking Tough-on-Crime Approach to Protect Communities from Criminals

Ontario government is proposing changes to improve public safety by getting tough on crime and putting violent, repeat offenders behind bars. The proposed changes, including new legislation to be introduced later this week, would strengthen the courts’ ability to deal with serious crimes by streamlining the judicial selection process and allocating additional judges to the Ontario Court of Justice, as well as creating dedicated prosecution teams for serious crimes.
