Oakville North-Burlington Newsletter May 09, 2025

“The Ontario government this week introduced the Primary Care Act, 2025, which, if passed, will make Ontario the first province in Canada to establish a framework for publicly funded primary care. This $300 million investment will expand teaching clinics and connect 300,000 more people to a family doctor as part of a plan to connect 2 million Ontarians to care over the next four years.
This first-of-its-kind, nation-leading legislation marks a major step forward in our government’s plan to protect our health care system and connect everyone in Ontario to a family doctor and primary care team. Primary care is the foundation of our health care system, and we are establishing our government’s vision for a primary care system that improves access to care and empowers people with the knowledge and tools to increase their well-being.”-MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos.

Honoured to Be Sworn as the Parliamentary Assistant to The Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Gaming
I was honoured to be sworn in as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Hon. Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming.
This portfolio touches the very heart of what makes our province vibrant, diverse, and dynamic. From the arts and cultural institutions that tell our stories, to the gaming sector that supports vital public services, to the tourism operators who showcase the beauty and spirit of Ontario to the world—this role is an opportunity to support the industries that bring people together and power our economy.
I look forward to working closely with Minister Cho, our stakeholders, and communities across the province to champion these important sectors and ensure they continue to thrive.

Action on High-Tech Crimes

With electricity demand in Ontario set to soar by at least 75 per cent by 2050, the Ontario government has approved Ontario Power Generation’s (OPG) plan to begin construction on the first of four small modular reactors (SMRs) at the Darlington nuclear site. Once complete, this SMR will be the first of its kind in the G7, producing enough reliable, affordable and clean electricity to power the equivalent of 300,000 homes, supporting thousands of good-paying jobs across the province and helping secure Ontario’s energy supply for decades to come.
