Ontario Completes Largest Battery Storage Procurement in Canada to Meet Growing Electricity Demand
The Ontario government has concluded the largest battery storage procurement in Canada’s history and secured the necessary electricity generation to support the province’s growing population and economy through the end of the decade. This successful procurement marks another milestone in the implementation of the province’s Powering Ontario’s Growth plan, helping to build the province’s clean energy advantage and ensure reliability for years to come.
Ontario’s success in building the province’s clean electricity system has played a pivotal role in attracting new investments to the province, particularly those investing in large-scale manufacturing projects. These new procurements will help ensure companies investing in Ontario have the energy supply they need, as Ontario continues to grow its economy and electricity system.

Ontario Awards Contract for Bradford Bypass
The Ontario government is awarding a contract for the detail design of the western section of the Bradford Bypass, marking an important milestone in the province’s plan to build the new four-lane, 16-kilometre highway that will relieve gridlock, save commuters time and keep goods moving across the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
The western section of the Bradford Bypass, for which the contract is being awarded, will run 6.5 kilometres from Highway 400 to Simcoe Road 4. In the meantime, preliminary work for the Bradford Bypass is currently underway with construction of a new bridge at Simcoe Road 4 and the widening of County Road 4 from two to four lanes.
To promote efficiencies between the Bradford Bypass project and the County of Simcoe’s planned expansion work on County Road 4, an agreement is in place to better coordinate the construction approach, which will save taxpayer dollars and optimize the work required to improve gridlock and reduce the risk of construction delays.
