” This week, Sylvia Jones, the Minister of Health introduced the Primary Care Act, 2025 in the Ontario Legislature—a bold step forward in our government’s commitment to ensuring every Ontarian has access to a family doctor or care team. This legislation builds on historic investments that will directly benefit communities like Oakville North–Burlington.
With $1.8 billion in funding for over 300 new primary care teams, and $300 million to launch 17 new teaching clinics, we’re expanding access to care while training the next generation of health professionals. Programs like the Learn and Stay Grant will help recruit family doctors to communities across Ontario, while new nurse practitioner-led clinics and enhanced digital tools will make it easier to book appointments and access services. With nearly 100,000 new nurses and over 15,000 doctors added since 2018, our government is delivering real, lasting improvements in healthcare—right here in Oakville North–Burlington and across the province.”— Effie Triantafilopoulos, MPP for Oakville North–Burlington

Ontario’s 2025 Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario

The 2025 Budget outlines a strong plan to protect Ontario’s workers, businesses, and families in the face of global economic uncertainty and U.S. tariffs. Key initiatives include:
•  Healthcare and Education: Expanded access to MRI and CT scans and new investments to grow post-secondary training in skilled trades and STEM fields.

• Infrastructure Investment: Doubling down on the province’s efforts to build, this budget supports the most ambitious capital plan in Ontario’s history—over $200 billion in planned investments over 10 years, including more than $33 billion in 2025–26 alone. This includes nearly $30 billion for highway expansion and rehabilitation, approximately $61 billion for public transit, $56 billion for health infrastructure, and over $30 billion to build new schools and childcare spaces.

•  Economic Support: A $5 billion emergency fund for businesses affected by tariffs and a $1.3 billion boost to the manufacturing investment tax credit.
This budget reflects our government’s commitment to strengthening Ontario’s economy, delivering better services, and building for the future.

Ontario and Manitoba Signed Internal Trade Agreement

In these times of economic uncertainty, Canada cannot afford to be divided. What’s good for one province is good for another!
This is why, our government signed a new agreement with Manitoba to cut red tape, move goods faster, and get more workers on the job.
Manitoba is now the third province to partner with Ontario on internal free trade joining Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Ontario Permanently Cutting the Gas Tax and Taking Tolls Off Highway 407 East

As part of its plan to protect Ontario, the government is continuing to lower costs for hard-working families, support local businesses and put more money back into people’s pockets through its plan to permanently cut the gasoline and fuel tax rates. This would save households, on average, about $115 per year going forward.
The government is also proposing to remove tolls from the provincially owned Highway 407 East, which is expected to save daily commuters an estimated $7,200 annually.
“I know that families and business owners are worried about rising costs, especially as U.S. tariffs threaten to raise the price of everyday essentials,” said Premier Doug Ford. “That’s why we’re cutting the gas tax permanently and taking tolls off Highway 407 East, and that’s why we’ll always keep looking for ways to put more money back into the pockets of Ontario families.”
