Oakville North-Burlington Newsletter May 30, 2025

Ontario is introducing the Supporting Children and Students Act, 2025, which, if passed, would enhance oversight, accountability, and transparency in public school boards, postsecondary institutions, and children’s aid societies. The legislation aims to improve the safety, well-being, and academic outcomes of children and youth across the province.
To address ongoing concerns about financial mismanagement by school boards, the proposed measures would strengthen government oversight of board finances, governance, and program performance. This includes giving the Minister of Education the authority to act quickly in matters of public interest.
Parents deserve confidence that school boards are making decisions in the best interests of their children’s education. These reforms ensure that taxpayer dollars are directed toward practical skills and strong educational outcomes, while reinforcing that the core mission of school boards must be putting students first.

I am proud to support organizations such as Halton Women’s Place, which play a vital role in this mission—supporting women through shelter, advocacy, and community services. When women succeed, Ontario succeeds!
