Remembrance Day ceremony at the Trafalgar Memorial
I attended the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Trafalgar Memorial, to honour the over 700 men and women who served from our community in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. As we gathered in reflection, we remembered the profound sacrifices made, including the 32 who gave their lives in WWI and the 34 in WWII. Each left an enduring legacy that we hold close.
May we carry forward our gratitude for all who served and sacrificed for the freedoms we cherish. Let their courage inspire us, their sacrifice strengthen us, and may we always strive for a world of peace, freedom, and democracy.

Bill 194 Introduces the Enhancing Digital Security and Trust Act
I participated on the Standing Committee on Justice Policy which conducted hearings on Bill194, the Enhancing Digital Security and Trust Act, which focuses on cybersecurity and responsible AI use across public sector entities. This Act sets standards and accountability measures for AI systems, while protecting privacy, especially for younger Ontarians, and ensuring transparency.
As we navigate unprecedented growth in Ontario, this legislation will help us responsibly embrace new digital technologies that drive innovation and efficiency. Ontario Lands New Nuclear Opportunities with Trade Mission to Poland and Estonia
The Ontario government has concluded a successful trade mission to Poland and Estonia to strengthen existing relationships and showcase how Ontario and its nuclear supply chain can help countries around the world meet increasing energy demands. This mission, led by Stephen Lecce, Minister of Energy and Electrification, helped secure an up to $40 million agreement between Laurentis Energy Partners, a subsidiary of Ontario Power Generation, and Orlen Synthos Green Energy (OSGE).
“The world is watching Ontario as we lead the largest expansion of nuclear energy on the continent to help meet surging demand for more energy,” said Minister Lecce. “Countries around the world are looking to replicate this success story, including our affordable and reliable nuclear fleet. That’s why our government is exporting its world-class nuclear expertise to create jobs back home while supporting Europe’s energy security as we make the case to decouple dependence from the Putin regime. We have successfully signed deals that set the stage for Ontario’s nuclear expansion into Europe that will generate revenue and create new, good-paying jobs for Ontario workers.”

Ontario Giving Police More Tools to Monitor Registered Sex Offenders
The Ontario government will soon introduce amendments to Christopher’s Law, that, if passed, will strengthen Ontario’s Sex Offender Registry by giving police more tools to better monitor and supervise registered sex offenders. The government is also proposing changes that would prevent sex offenders from legally changing their names in Ontario so they can’t hide their identities.
“Decades ago, Ontario led the way with Canada’s first sex offender registry, and today we’re making it stronger,” said Solicitor General Michael Kerzner. “By introducing changes to make Christopher’s Law more effective, we’re giving police new tools to prevent, investigate, and solve egregious sex crimes to protect those most vulnerable, especially our children.”

Asahi Kasei Breaks Ground on Electric Vehicle Battery Separator Plant in Port Colborne
The Ontario government is welcoming the start of construction on Asahi Kasei’s $1.7 billion manufacturing facility in Port Colborne to produce lithium-ion battery separators, a key component of electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The new plant, the first of its kind in Canada, is a significant part of Ontario’s growing end-to-end EV and battery supply chain, accelerating the production of Ontario-made EVs and creating better jobs with bigger paycheques in the Niagara Region.
“The start of construction on Asahi Kasei’s battery separator plant is a major step forward in building Ontario’s electric vehicle supply chain, connecting minerals in the north with electric vehicle battery makers and automakers across the province,” said Premier Doug Ford. “This facility will help lay the groundwork to produce electric vehicles from start to finish by Ontario workers with Ontario-made components, bringing better jobs and bigger paycheques to communities across the province.”

Ontario Investing Over $74 Million Through Next Round of Skills Development Fund Capital Stream
The Ontario government is launching the second round of its Skills Development Fund (SDF) Capital Stream starting November 29, with over $74 million in available funding to build, expand and retrofit training facilities for workers in the trades, including construction, manufacturing technology and health care. The government is also investing nearly $5 million from the first round of the SDF Capital Stream with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) to build a new crane training facility for over 1,600 workers in Barrie. Since the province launched the Skills Development Fund in 2021, Ontario is building training facilities and providing training programs that are projected to support over one million workers across the province.
“With more than $74 million committed to training and workers across the province, this new round of funding through our Skills Development Fund Capital Stream will help thousands of additional Ontario workers find better jobs and bigger paycheques,” said Premier Doug Ford. “It’s especially great to be here in Oro-Medonte to announce nearly $5 million in support from the first round of funding and see first-hand how it’s making a difference in the lives of Ontario workers.”

Ontario Building More Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
The Ontario government is building over 1,300 new electric vehicle (EV) charging ports in small and medium-sized communities, marking a major milestone in the province’s plan to increase access to EV chargers outside of large urban centres and support the electrification of transportation across the province. As the province continues to see substantial job creation and investment in the growing EV and EV battery manufacturing sector, these new charging stations will provide critical supporting infrastructure in communities across the province, including for EVs made right here in Ontario.
“With more than 201,000 electric vehicles on the road in Ontario, we’re putting shovels in the ground to build more charging stations and make life easier for drivers,” said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Energy and Electrification. “That includes a focus on smaller and underserved communities across our province where we are providing more certainty for parents and workers during their commutes.”
