“When businesses choose to invest in Burlington and Oakville, they are investing in our people, our skilled workforce, and the strong communities we have built together. That confidence continues to be recognized nationally.
This year, Oakville was named one of Canada’s Best Locations for corporate investment by Site Selection Magazine for the eighth consecutive year, with more than $3 billion in investment and 1,926 jobs created during the latest reporting period. Halton Region was also recognized among Canada’s top locations for investment for the sixth consecutive year. These achievements reflect the hard work of local businesses, workers, entrepreneurs, and community partners who continue to drive growth and opportunity throughout our region.
Businesses such as Tempel Canada, Evertz Technologies, Geotab, and Canadian Hospital Specialties continue to demonstrate why companies choose to invest and grow here. Recent investments, including Tempel Canada’s $132 million manufacturing expansion and SEKISUI Canada’s $15 million investment in Burlington, reflect continued confidence in our region.
Strong communities also require strong infrastructure. In Oakville, a provincial investment of more than $154 million is supporting the expansion of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, adding 111 inpatient beds and expanded care space. Construction has also begun on two new Schlegel Villages long-term care homes that will bring 640 modern long-term care spaces to Oakville. At the same time, provincial investments of $30 million for Harvest Oak Public School and $43.2 million for the new Oakville NE #5 Public School are creating new classroom and licensed child-care spaces for local families.
Together, these investments are creating opportunities today while helping ensure Burlington and Oakville remain exceptional places to live, work, raise a family, and build a business.”—MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos
Exciting Progress for Students and Families in North Oakville
I was pleased to participate in the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Halton District School Board elementary school at 3490 Preserve Drive in Oakville.
This new three-storey school will support current and future growth in our community, welcoming up to 926 students, featuring an open-concept library, a rooftop terrace, and a licensed childcare centre supporting 88 spaces.
Under the leadership of Premier Doug Ford, and as part of our government’s plan to support Ontario families, we are making historic investments, including building more schools in growing communities like ours. Thank you to the Ontario Ministry of Education, the Halton District School Board, Mayor Rob Burton, and everyone involved in bringing this important project forward.
For a fast-growing community like ours, investments like this help ensure that students, families, and educators have access to modern learning environments, preparing students for a rewarding future.
Building Modern Schools and Real-Life Skills for Students in Oakville North–Burlington.
Since 2018, our government has invested nearly $229 million, approved 6 new schools, 1 school expansion, 5,400 student spaces, and 440 child care spaces in our community.
Across Ontario, we are also investing in skilled trades, STEM, math, literacy, and job-ready skills to help prepare students for success in the classroom and in the workforce.
These investments are about protecting Ontario’s future by giving students the modern learning spaces, practical skills, and opportunities they need to succeed.
Remembering September 11, 2001
We climb not for glory, but for gratitude. We climb not for ourselves, but for them. We climb to remember.
25 years ago, the world was changed forever by the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
On September 11, our Oakville community gathered with the Oakville Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 1582 to honour and remember the firefighters and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We observed a moment of silence, and we watched firefighters and other volunteers climb the stairs in tribute to the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness of those who ran toward danger to save the lives of others.
Thank you to Oakville Fire for keeping their memory alive and for honouring those who gave everything to protect others. We will never forget.
Raising Awareness for Childhood Cancer in Oakville
In honour of the memory of their daughter Charlotte, Jennifer and Matthew participated in a flag raising at Oakville town hall to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
This meaningful occasion gives us an opportunity to shine a light on the realities faced by children and families affected by childhood cancer while remembering the young lives that have touched our community.
Children deserve the chance to grow up healthy, follow their dreams and experience all that life has to offer. Throughout the month, we invite our community to help raise awareness of childhood cancer by leading with compassion, supporting one another, and keeping the children and families impacted by this disease in our hearts.
Honouring Ron Morrison on His 90th Birthday
It was a pleasure to join his daughter Kathryn, family and friends to celebrate with Ron Morrison on his 90th birthday!
I was honoured to know Ron, who was President and CEO of Kodak Canada when we both served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association. Ninety years is an incredible milestone, one that offers so much to celebrate and be grateful for while reflecting on Ron’s enduring impact, business leadership and many other accomplishments.
Wishing Ron a very happy 90th birthday and many more years filled with good health, happiness, friendship and wonderful memories!Looking for a Family Doctor in Halton?

Ontario Celebrates Workers on Labour Day
As President Trump’s tariffs continue to create economic uncertainty for workers and businesses, our government is standing up for tariff-impacted workers and taking action to protect the industries and communities that depend on them, including steel, automotive and manufacturing. That means helping more people get a head start on their career journeys and creating more pathways to good-paying careers, ensuring they have the skills and opportunities they need to succeed while also ensuring Ontario has the skilled workforce needed to build the most competitive and resilient economy in the G7.

Ontario Putting Student Achievement First as Students Return to School
“Our focus is clear: putting student achievement first and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed,” said Paul Calandra, Minister of Education. “We are making record investments in education, and we expect those investments to deliver better results for students. We are giving teachers the tools and resources they need, giving parents clearer information and greater confidence in their child’s education, and making sure students are building strong skills to succeed in school and prepare for the future.”

Supporting Ontario’s First Responders
Ontario’s first responders face challenging and dangerous situations every day to protect our communities.
That’s why we’re investing millions to ensure they have the tools, resources and supports they need, both on the job and beyond the front lines.
