Province’s $154 million investment will add nearly 80,000 square feet of new acute care space and support 200 good-paying jobs in the community

OAKVILLE — The Ontario government is celebrating the start of construction on new renovations at Halton Healthcare’s Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, a major milestone that will connect more patients and families to faster, more convenient, high-quality acute care closer to home. Supported by a provincial investment of more than $154 million, the project will add over 110 inpatient beds and approximately 79,000 square feet of renovated space, while supporting approximately 200 good-paying jobs in the region during construction. The project is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario’s health-care system by investing $64 billion in more than 50 major hospital projects across the province over the next 10 years.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Halton and surrounding regions can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “As part of our $64 billion health infrastructure plan, today’s milestone means more families in the region will have access to world-class hospital care, closer to home.”
The new state-of-the-art acute care renovations will reduce wait times, streamline care and deliver world-class infrastructure to better support the community. Once construction is completed by the end of 2027, this expansion will create additional acute care capacity to better serve the almost 400,000 residents of Oakville, Halton Hills and Milton, as well as surrounding communities.
As part of the province’s broader plan to support health-care needs across the region, the government is also supporting renovations at Milton District Hospital. Once complete, the renovations will make room for 12 additional inpatient beds and support dozens of good-paying jobs in the community.
